Morning – Boys and Girls
U9 (Born 2013, 2014, 2015) – Epee Size 0

England Fencing Youth Selection Event U14s
All fencers with birth years 2009/2010 (U13s). We do not support fencing-up in any age group. Full selection document 2022.

Afternoon – Senior Men’s and Women’s Epee Open

Minimum age 13 years old as at 20th Nov 2022. 

The day is in two halves with the juniors in the morning and the seniors open in the afternoon. Ideally suited for fencers new to fencing competitions as well as the regular competition goer. Fencers aged over 13 years old (as at 20.11.2022) have the choice of doing either the juniors, seniors or both. 20 Carpet pistes. Entries will be capped to help manage the event and make it run smoothly. Fencers may need to self-referee in poules and early DE fights.

Competition format: One round of poules, everyone promoted to Direct Elimination (U9, U11, U13 to 10 hits, everyone else 15 hits in the DE’s).
DE Timings: 10 hits 2-1-2-1-2; 15 hits 3-1-3-1-3.

U9 – 09.45 | U11 – 10.00

Senior Epee:
Women – 13.00
Men – 13.30
(Senior events will follow immediately after the U13s and U15s finals.)

Entry Fees:
Junior AM £25.00
Senior PM £30.00
AM and PM £45.00
(late entry +£20 at organiser’s discretion)

Closing Date
23:59 Wednesday 16th November 2022

The senior events will be British Fencing Ranking events. The £3 Ranking Event  Levy imposed by British Fencing is included in your entry fee. We will use ranking from British Fencing, England Fencing, LPJS and previous events.

Referee Course
As part of our commitment to improve fencers and encourage the introduction of referees, we will be running a level 2 epee referee course in conjunction with this event.

Requirements: BFA ‘Compete’ level membership will be required. Fencers will need to join online at BritishFencing.com. All fencing clothing and equipment must comply with BFA regulations.  Age group fencers may only enter in their year of birth age group category as shown above. Entries will be capped to assist with the management and smooth running of the event.

Cancellations and Refunds
Fencers cancelling before the closing date will be refunded less non-recoverable costs (approx. £3). Cancellations after the closing date will not be refunded. If it is necessary to cancel the event, entry fees will be refunded less non-recoverable costs.

International Visitor Fencers
Please ensure you obtain a temporary British Fencing membership number to complete in our event. If you do not hold a current British Fencing membership number, you will not be permitted to compete.  Full details here>>>

How to enter



Car Parking
There is onsite parking at the leisure centre, although this can get busy at times. There are several car parks in local proximity with a short walk to the leisure centre.

Car Park Charges
Parking is free on Sunday up to 3 hours. Over 3 hours a charge of £4.00 applies. Get your ticket on arrival.

Travel by Train
Solihull Train Station is a stones through from the leisure centre, on the other side of the road. Trains travelling from London to Birmingham regularly stop at Solihull. Full details of times, costs and booking can be found with The Trainline.com
